B'lore: SemIndia Inc building strong team

Bangalore, Feb 15: The city-based SemIndia Inc today announced that the vision for the SemIndia Fab City will fast materialise and the company was gaining significance amongst the highly qualified and experienced eminent semiconductor industry professionals in India and abroad.

The company, in a release here, said it was in the process of engaging distinguished industry professionals in its efforts to build India as the second Silicon Valley. The latest to join the management team of SemIndia was Mr Ajay Marathe, former Corporate Vice-President, AMD Inc, and President, AMD India. He would be the Chief Operating Officer of the company.

Recently, former STPI Bangalore and Hyderabad Director B V Naidu took over as Managing Director of SemIndia FabCity and SemIndia Systems Pvt Ltd.

The company said the high profile team at SemIndia had been further strengthened by the rich industry and market experience of Mr Marathe.

''I am thrilled that Ajay, the main force behind the success of AMD in India, has joined SemIndia. His semiconductor operations knowledge, business acumen and resourceful experience would certainly help in creating strong brand equity for SemIndia in global markets,'' SemIndia Chairman and CEO Dr Vinod Agarwal said.

The release said SemIndia was now on the verge of tapping the huge potential market for outsourced ATMP services from global chipmakers and creating a complete semiconductor ecosystem under his resourceful guidance, which would create more business opportunities and add new dimensions to the company. SemIndia's major plans include setting up of ATMP assembly testing and packaging unit as well as a three billion Dollar fabrication project.
