SAIL's Bhilai plant gets 'Best of All' category award

New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Bhilai Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Ltd received the award in the 'Best of All' category of the 13th Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Awards (RGNQA) for the year 2006.

Minister of State for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Taslimuddin today presented the 13th RGNQA for the year 2006 to 14 manufacturing and service sector industries here.

The Award for 'Large Scale Manufacturing Industry' was won by Lucas-TVS Ltd, Chennai.

Hyderabad-based Nipuna Services Ltd is the winner of the award for 'Large Scale Service Industry' and Himedia Laboratories Private Ltd, Nasik won the award for 'Small Scale Manufacturing Industry'.

The Minister also released the Indian Standards for Natural Gas Pipeline System, which have been evolved by BIS in conjunction with the Gas Authority of India Ltd in a record time of one year.

GAIL CMD UD Choubey received the Standards from Secretary, Consumer Affairs.

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, Mangalore; Electrical and Electronic Industry Hindalco Industries Ltd-Renusagar Power Division, Sonebhadra; JK Industries Ltd-Banmore Tyre Plant, Morena; Bokaro Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Ltd, Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand; Rajasthan Spinning and Weaving Mills Ltd, Unit-Banswara, Banswara; Fine Switchgears, Phagwara; Hycount Plastics and Chemicals, Kollam; Pravin Masalewala, Daund, Pune; Mathura Jalandhar Pipeline of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Bijwasan, New Delhi; Vaccine Centre, Coimbatore, were presented commendation certificates under various categories and industrial sectors.

The RGNQA, given annually by the Bureau of Indian Standards, were instituted in the year 1991 on the lines of Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in the US, Deming Prize in Japan and the European Quality Award.
