Repoll in Qadian booth passes off peacefully

Gurdaspur, Feb 14 (UNI) Repolling in booth number 72 of the Qadian assembly constituency of this district, today passed off peacefully with a heavy voter turnout.

Of the 1,478 electorate, as many as 1,169 voters today exercised their franchise in the booth that falls in Bal village of the constituency.

The Election Commission had yesterday ordered the repoll in the booth on the complaint of Congress assembly candidate Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa who had alleged that a presiding officer had ''helped'' the opposition candidate.

The assembly polls were held in Punjab on February 13 for 115 of the 117 seats.
