Ranbaxy says US officials search NJ offices

NEW YORK, Feb 15 (Reuters) Drugmaker Ranbaxy Laboratories Inc on Thursday said federal officials have conducted a search of the company's US corporate offices in Princeton, New Jersey.

Ranbaxy said in a statement that the search on Wednesday came ''as a surprise'' and that the company is not aware of any wrongdoing.

''From my understanding it was the U.S. Food and Drug Administration'' that conducted the search, said an official of a public relations firm that represents the company. ''There are no other authorities that I'm aware of.'' REUTERS PKS DB2113
