Prime accused in newsreader murder arrested

Vijayawada, Feb 15 (UNI) The key accused in the murder of a private satellite channel newsreader was arrested at Bangalore today.

Police here said on a tip-off, Bangalore police along with Andhra Pradesh police nabbed 26-year-old G Chandra Sekhar, alias Chandu.

After murdering newsreader Lakshmi Sujatha with the help of his aide at a lodge room on February 9 Chandu, the channel's make-up man, left for Bangalore. The murder came to light the next day.

Chandu was angry with Sujatha for neglecting him.

Following ht murder, the police launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.

The city police yesterday arrested D Ravindra, alias Ravi, who assisted Chandu in the murder.

Chandu is being brought here from Bangalore, the police added.
