Petrol, diesel price cuts not to check inflation: BJP

New Delhi, Feb 15: The BJP today sought to downplay the effect of petroleum and diesel price reduction, saying it would not check the soaring inflation.

Reacting to this price reduction, BJP Spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the wrong ''economic policies'' of the UPA government were resposible for the hike of petroleum prices seven times in the last two years, adding that this reduction would not check the inflation.

The Government today decided to reduce the price of petrol by Rs two per litre and diesel by Re one per litre with effect from midnight.
