Opposition criticises fee hike, demands to review decision
Ranchi, Feb 15 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda today demanded that the cabinet's decision of increasing fees of technical institutions be reviewed.
Mr Munda had also urged the UPA-backed Madhu Koda government to provide compensation to the farmers whose crops were destroyed by hailstorm a few days back, from disaster management fund of the state government.
The state cabinet yesterday approved the proposal of increasing fees of the BIT Sindri to Rs 7700 with an increase of about Rs 152 per student each year.
Besides, the government also hiked the fees of polytechnic and mining institute to 2,400 from Rs 77.
In a statement issued here today Mr Munda said that the fee hike would deter the poor students from taking admission to these institutes.
The Leader of Opposition also mentioned that the hailstorm effected farmers should be given immediate financial assistance by the state government.
The leader of Opposition said that NDA would launch agitation if the government failed to concede to their demands.
