Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 15 (UNI) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily today said M H Ambareesh's decision to quit as Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting was taken in haste.

'There was no need for him to resign in protest against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict. After all, it was not the Central Government's decision but a Tribunal verdict,' Mr Moily, who is also in charge of the Congress in Kerala, told reporters here.

He was here to attend the executive meeting of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.

'It is only a Tribunal verdict and the state government can file against it in the higher courts. When there are other ways to express grievences against the verdict, there is no need for resignation, he said.

Mr Moily described Mr Ambareesh as a 'very emotional person.'' Mr Ambareesh, was inducted into the Central Cabinet four months ago.
