Hardwar, Feb 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today said the Samajwadi party would ''continue'' its struggle for the reintegration of Hardwar in UP, alleging the district was included in Uttarakhand against the wishes of a majority of its people.

Addressing an election rally here, he claimed the district was included in the state by the Parliament without the recommendations of the state assembly.

"If the people elect a sufficient number of MLAs from this and the adjoining districts of Dehradun and Udham Singh Nagar so as to ensure that no government is formed in the state without the support of the Samajwadi party, it would pave the way for restoring Hardwar to UP, the parent state", he said.

He further said the UP state assembly had already passed a resolution demanding the restoration of the district to the state.

Flaying the ''anti-farmer'' policies of the Congress and its allies, the Samajwadi party supremo said 4,000 farmers had committed suicide in Punjab, Maharastra, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, which are considered as developed, while not even a single farmer had committed suicide in UP.

Besides, Mr Yadav also criticised the setting up of vast industrial estates in Uttarakhand without providing jobs to the farmers whose land had been acquired saying, "as a result of the setting up of a large number of the industrial units in the state, the agricultural land was shrinking, production of agricultural crops was sharply declining and the condition of the farmers in the state had become miserable." Mr Yadav also accused the Congress and the BJP of pursuing anti-Muslim policies and being in collusion with each other to oust the duly elected Samajwadi government in UP.

"When worst crimes, such as rape and murder, were committed during the communal riots in Gujrat, no one demanded the dismissal of the Narendra Modi government. Now both the Congress and the BJP are unconstitutionally demanding the dismissal of a state government which enjoys clear majority in the state," he alleged.
