Bhopal, Feb 15 (UNI) Two candidates, both owing allegiance to the Bahujan Samaj Party, submitted their nomination papers for the byelection to Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi (ST) Lok Sabha constituency while no candidate submitted papers today for the Gwalior Lok Sabha seat and the Udaypura Assembly seat, official sources said.

The nominees were Mabban Singh and Anante Singh.

Yesterday, Samajwadi Party's Patiraj Singh submitted his nomination for Sidhi, which the former MLA contested last time as well. Independent Manoj Sharma submitted his papers for Gwalior.

State Tourim Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia will contest from Gwalior on the BJP's ticket while National Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Kunwar Singh will be party nominee from Sidhi and Ms Shashiprabha Singh is the BJP candidate from Udaypura.

The bypoll was necessitated in Sidhi and Gwalior as MPs Chandrapratap Singh (BJP) and Ramsewak Singh Gujjar were expelled from Parliament in the cash-for-query scam. Udaypura MLA Rampal Singh, who was the Public Health Engineering Minister, put in his papers after emerging victorious in the Vidisha Lok Sabha bypoll.

February 19 is the last date for submitting nomination papers, a process that got underway on February 12. Scrutiny will take place the following day and papers may be withdrawn until February 22.

Polling will take place on March 8 and counting is scheduled for March 11.
