RSVP to place the great epic 'Mahabharata' on internet
Tirupati, Feb 15: The Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidya Peetha (RSVP) with financial assistance from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has taken up a project to place the great epic 'Mahabharata' on the internet soon.
An advisory body meeting, which was held here recently under the Chairmanship of RSVP Vice-Chancellor Krishana Stapathy, discussed various aspects of the project named as ''e-prathi''.
The project would be an informative and all encompassing version of the epic, by taking into cosideration the various versions religiously followed across the country, RSVP officials added.
The project which would be commencing in April 2007, has decided to take inputs from ''Sri Vavillavari Prathi'' from South India and versions brought out by Geetha press Gorakhpur and Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, for preparation of a standard and authentic copy in Devangiri script for the benefit of researchers.
Comprehensive synopsis of Mahabharatham and an English description of all the 18 chapters would also be available.
It would include an appendix with details of different cities, countries, mountains, rivers, oceans and other geographical specifications mentioned in the epic and also their contemporary names.
Once completed, the final product of e-book of Mahabharatham would be made available on TTD and RSVP websides, the officials added.
