Krishna rues dismal power scenario

Nagpur, Feb 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna today said summers in the state would be ''testing and depressing'' because of the dismal power situation.

Interacting with the mediapersons after inaugurating state-level Inter-University Research Festival ''Avishkar-2007'', Mr Krishna said power situation in every state across the country was the same barring a couple of states.

''Government should make honest efforts to set and achieve short-term as well as long-term goals on the power front,'' he said.

Regarding the delay in commissioning of power projects, Mr Krishna said he would seek the details and see what could be done.

Asked about the delay in implementation of farmers' package, he said everything was being taken note of. ''Packages are not panacea to the farmers' woes. In fact, re-building the farmers' self-confidence would help a lot in improving their condition, he added.
