Inflation moves up close to 7 percent mark

New Delhi, Feb 15: Keeping its rising trend, inflation has moved up close to the seven per cent mark at 6.73 per cent as of February 3, from 6.58 per cent during the previous week.

The rise was attributed mainly to higher food and manufactured product prices, official data released today showed.

Moving swiftly to rein in the galloping prices, the government said it was cutting the retail prices of petrol by two rupees a litre and diesel by one rupee a litre.
