Chennai, Feb 15: Leading telecom service provider Hutch today announced a drop in national roaming rates up to 56 per cent to its subscribers.

Apart from this, Hutch also scrapped the monthly charges for national roaming to its customers, the company said in release here.

Hutch users will now pay only Rs 1.75 for incoming calls, which will save them costs between 54 to 56 per cent, depending on the roaming distance. While Outgoing local calls will be Rs 1.40 per minute, STD will cost Rs 2.40 per minute. There will be no change in cost for ISD rates and SMS or GPRS usage.

The cut in roaming tariffs was in line with the recent guidelines issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

As per TRAI rules, the new tariffs, effective from today, would be applicable for the dominant GSM network as well as the CDMA platform. The new charges would bring down roaming tariffs by 22 to 56 per cent, the release added.
