Guj BJP flays Congress' 'slanderous campaign' against Modi govt

Ahmedabad, Feb 15 (UNI) The Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned the Congress for launching a ''slanderous campaign'' against the Narendra Modi Government, despite President A P J Abdul Kalam's appreciation of the State's progress.

''Gujarat's development has been appreciated by President Kalam who has stated that the State's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rate at ten per cent, is the best in the country,'' newly-appointed Gujarat BJP spokesman Vijay Rupani said while speaking to reporters here today.

Yet, the Congress has continued its slanderous campaign against the BJP, which is very unfortunate, he rued.

Mr Rupani claimed that the credit for raising Sardar Sarovar Dam's height to 121.92 meters goes solely to the Modi government.

moreover apart, the government has also secured investments to the tune of Rs 461,835 crore through 352 MoUs in just two days, he said.

Hence, there is no reason for the Congress to criticise the government, he added.

Speaking on the state of farmers in Gujarat, Mr Rupani said, ''There has been no instance of farmers committing suicide in the state as the Modi government has ensured their welfare.'' UNI
