Govt mulling anti-inflationary steps including imports
New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) The Government is considering anti inflationary steps including liberalising imports to bring down prices, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath said today.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the UNIDO Centre for South-South Industrial Cooperation here, he told newspersons that the Government may make imports more flexible "to ease supply side pressures".
He, however, noted that there were no signs of overheating in the economy.
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) was looking at more gaps and if the need arose, imports could be resorted to, he added.
Inflation figures, released today, showed that prices had scaled a high of 6.73 per cent from 6.58 per cent last week.
