Former Bihar CS surrenders before court

Patna, Feb 15 (UNI) Former Bihar Chief Secretary G S Kang today surrendered before the court and was later granted bail in connection with a case related to irregularities in the Durgawati reservoir project.

After surrendering before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (in-charge) Mithilesh Kumar Rai, Kang prayed that he be released as anticipatory bail had already been granted to him by a district and sessions court.

Mr Kang was released after furnishing a bail bond and two sureties of Rs ten thousand each.

The former CS had been made accused of irregularities committed in Durgawati reservoir project. According to the prosecution the land of the forest department was illegally acquired for the Durgawati reservoir project when Mr Kang was the state development commissioner.
