Eight killed as lorry turns turtle
Gulbarga, Feb 15 (UNI) Eight people, including three children and four women, were killed and six injured, one of them critically, when a cement-laden lorry in which the they were travelling turned turtle at Waghdari village in the bordering Sholapur district of Maharashtra.
Police said about 20 labourers boarded the ill-fated lorry at Shahpur and were proceeding to Pune seeking livelihood when the mishap occurred.
The deceased, all hailing from Karnataka, were identified as Venkamma (3), Rachamma(7), Yevamma (11), Renuka (19), Lakshmi Bai (30), Devakamma (40), Allamanamma (25) and Bheemanna.
The injured were admitted to the Akkalkot Goverment Hospital.
The lorry driver fled the scene.
