Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) Defence lawyers in the 1993 serial blasts case, will make submissions before the designated TADA Court regarding arguments made by the prosecution on the quantum of punishment, on February 23.

Judge P D Kode, who conducted the trial, today asked defence lawyers Farhana Shah and Subhash Kanse to make their submissions on a single working day.

According to defence lawyers, they took 25 working days to argue on the quantum of punishment, while the CBI completed the argument in a day's time. ''It is an eyewash,'' they said and pointed out that those who have been charged for recovery and others with landing of arms and explosives cannot be given capital punishment.

Besides, comparing the '93 serial blasts with Parliament attack was on a different footing and that the background for serial blasts was totally different, they said.
