Combined Drinking Water Scheme

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 15 (UNI) A Combined Drinking Water Scheme to solve the drinking water scarcity in Tiruchirapalli City would be implemented at an outlay of Rs 105 Crores, State Transport Minister K N Nehru said.

Launching the second phase of Distribution of free Colour Television sets, a poll promise of the ruling DMK Government, to over 4236 beneficiaries in the district here this evening he said already a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been forwarded by the State Government to the Central Government seeking its grant under the Integrated Urban Development Scheme.

He said the Scheme would be launched during June, this year. The Mega Flood Prevention Scheme for the flood-prone Tiruchirapalli at a cost of Rs 295 crore would also be taken up during the same month, he added.

He said before end of this year, 90,000 free Colour Television sets would be distributed to the beneficiaries in the District.

Earlier, he inaugurated the distribution of free bicycles to students of various schools in the district. Over 21,000 free bicycles were also distributed to students of 124 schools in the district.
