CM assares Singur land losers of jobs
Nalikul, Hooghly, Feb 15 (UNI) Asserting that industrialisation was the destiny of West Bengal, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today promised that all the ''land losers'' in Singur could be involved in the small car project and the poor farmers would not be left out of its path of development.
'' There are some poor who used to work in fields. They will be employed in some ways outside or inside the factory.
It is the state government's moral resposibility,'' he said while addressing his first public rally, in this area eight kms off the site for the small car project, in the wake of the storm over Singur.
Stressing the Singur project was the key to the industrialisation in the state, the Chief Minister said besides the area for the main plant, about 300 acres had been earmarked for ancillory units were local people would be provided job oppurtunities, while the rest would get indirect employment.
Seeking voice support from the crowd as to whether they want industry, he said the state could no longer afford to depend only on agriculture and it was a crying need to put more stress on trade and industry to provide for the growing number of educated unemployed.
'' Factory, factory, factory. There is no way out. If we back out people will not forgive us.'' He, however, said the government would ensure that there was no tear shed in the process of land acquisition and industrialisation and assured that the Left government would never do such an injustice.
