Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) Interbank call money rates closed lower at 6.40-6.60 per cent compared to their previous close of 7.00-7.10 per cent, dealers said.

Following the CRR hike, borrowing requirements on the reporting fortnight escalated during the first half of the day as the inter bank rates breached the eight per cent mark for the first time in nearly a month.

However, suspected RBI intervention during late trading hours (dollar absorption) eased the liquidity substantially due to which call rates eventually ended soft.

At the LAF window, the Central Bank accepted 30 bids worth Rs 6,770 crore at the 4-day reverse-repo auction while 23 bids worth Rs 11,930 crore were accepted at the 4-day repo auction.

The CBLO segment saw 377 bids amouting to Rs 21,055 crore getting transacted in the range of 1.00-7.95 per cent.
