BJP members suspended from AP assembly

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (UNI) Two members of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were suspended today from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the day for disrupting the proceedings of the House.

BJP floor leader G Kishen Reddy and his party colleague in the assembly P Dorababu were on their feet demanding an immediate reply from the government on non-release of scholarships for students belonging to the weaker sections.

Speaker K R Suresh Reddy, who had earlier disallowed the adjournment motions given notice of by the BJP pleaded with the members to wait for reply from Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy later in the day and they were free to register their protest if they were still unsatisfied.

As the members continued to stall the proceedings, the speaker named them. Following this, Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved the motion for their suspension.

The BJP members raised slogans against the government for allegedly not releasing scholarships to SC, ST and BC students and left the House in a huff.
