Armed miscreants loot bank money at gun point

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15 (UNI) Armed miscreants today looted Rs.9 lakh at gun point from the bank officials near Barang on the outskirt of the state capital here.

Police said Indian Overseas Bank officials from Athgarh were coming in a car with the money to deposit in the main branch of IOB here when four miscreants intercepted the vehicle near Barang and snatched away the money at gun point.

The miscreants who came in two motorbike fled soon after committing the crime. Police on being informed about the burglery arrived at the spot and sealed all the exit points to nab the miscreants.

On February 13 also armed miscreants looted the State Bank of India branch at Bimlagarh, about 80 km from Rourkela and decamped with Rs.11 lakh.

The five-member gang entered the bank, held the Bank manager hostage at gun point and looted the money. Police suspected the role of the Maoists in the dacoity. Soon after the incident an intensive combing operation was launched by the police to trace the miscreants but in vain.
