AP Sangam stage dharna demanding Handloom parks

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Cheneta Karmika Sangham, Krishna district branch today staged dharna before the District Collector office here demanding construction of Handloom parks, instead of Textile Parks to enhance the weaving rates to meet the increase in prices of the essential commadities.

Official sources said Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD) should purchase handloom saries through APCO for its free marriage scheme.

The Government should announce an ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the weavers' families, who committed suicide, they added.

CPI leader M Ramarao, among others participated in dharna and later submitted a memorandum to the District Revenue Officer.
