Four cops attacked by gang: Villuppuram

Villuppuram, Feb 15: Four police personnel were injured when a gang attacked them here early this morning.

Police said the four-member police team of Thirukovilur - Devaraj, Iyyanar, Kumar and Pachayappan - were on look out for one Murugan and Krishnamurty, in connection with illicit alcohol distillation cases.

Though the team managed to nab Murugan from Kallippady village around 0545 hours today, a five-member gang attacked them and rescued Murugan.

While Iyyanaar suffered serious head injury in the attack, the others had minor injuries.

All of them were admitted to Thirukovilur General Hospital.
