11 cr bridge sanctioned for village: MP
Machilipatnam, Feb 15 (UNI) Machilipatnam Lok Sabha Member B Ramakrishna today said the Andhra Pradesh Government has sanctioned bridge between Chinnagollapalem and Pallipalem in Krishna district, at a cost of 11 crore.
Talking to UNI here, Mr Ramakrishna said the Chinnagollapalem village was situated on the banks of Upputeru major drain, the only outlet to the world famous fresh water lake Kolleru, at the mouth of Bay of Bengal.
It was isolated from the mainland and became an island. But the people of the island had no transportation facility. Presently they were navigating by motor launches and catamarans, which were in a dilapidated condtion to attend their daily work.
Over 2,000 acres of land, including Coconut, Casuarina and Mango plantations were erroded by sea and many people of the island village were migrating to other places in search of livelyhood.
