JK: Restaurants raided, cards burnt on Valentines

Srinagar Feb 14: The activists of Forum Against Social Evils (FASE) today raided several restaurants and also burnt cards in the civil line area on valentine's Day.

Led by Asiya Andradi, the chief of the '' Dukhtaran-e-Milat'', the activists, majority in burqas, raided restaurants and other places in the civil lines and other parts of the city.

FASE has urged people not to celebrate Valentine's Day.

FASE activists caught a number of couples in the restaurants, who were celebrating the day. However, they were allowed to go with an advice not to celebrate such days which are against the teachings of Islam. The girls were particularly advised to follow the teachings of Islam and not to mingal with boys.

The activists also burnt Valentine cards at Residency road near here.

FASE had last year launched a massive raids on hotels, restaurants and other places they suspected were being used for flesh trade.

It also super headed massive protest demonstrations when the high profile sex scandal was unearthed in which two former ministers, a top bureaucrat, DIG, BSF and senior police and civil officials were arrested for their alleged involvement.

However, majority of them were released on bail by a court in Chandigarh after the case was transferred there from here.
