Shimla, Feb 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has promised additional incentives to industries willing to set up their units in remote areas of the state.

Addressing a meeting of Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Kala Amb yesterday, he said those industries willing to set up their units in the remote areas of the state would be provided additional benefits besides those being provided under the Central Industrial Package.

Mr Singh said industrialisation along the border areas of the state had reached a saturation point and overcrowding of industrial units was likely to cause inconvenience to the industrialists.

The industrial package in the state has been extended up to March 31, 2010 and the state government was confident that it would be extended up to March 31, 2013, he said, adding that the package would provide rebate on sales tax and other taxes to the entrepreneurs.

He claimed Himachal with surplus power, cheap land and other infrastructural facilities was one of the best destinations for the MNCs and other industrial houses to set up their units in the state.

The government has constituted the Baddi-Barotiwala Nalagarh Industrial Development Authority to cater to the needs of the industrial units, besides maintaining law and order, he said.
