AAI ink MoU with AP Govt for airport expansion
Hyderabad, Feb 14 (UNI) Airports Authority of India (AAI) under Ministry of Civil Aviation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for expansion of Vijayawada and Rajahmundry Airports.
The Executive Director of AAI, Inderjit Singh and Special Secretary to tHe State Government had signed the MoU today in presence of the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Welcoming the MoU, the Chief Minister asked the AAI authorities to maintain the time schedule and the Government would provide all facilities to them.
He asked them to prepare a Master Plan after identifying the lands at both the airports within 15 days and submit the same to the Government to acquire the lands.
Dr Reddy said the Government would hand over the lands within three months after submitting the plan to take up the expansion work by the AAI.
The Chief Minister urged the AAI authorities to complete the expansion work within 12 months.
Mr Inderjit Singh said the Vijayawada Airport expansion would be taken up at a cost of Rs 80 crore and the Rajahmundry airport for Rs 23 crore.
