16 police personnel awarded in Meghalaya

Mawiong, Feb 14 (UNI) Meghalaya Home Minister Robert Garnet Lyngdoh today awarded President's police medal to sixteen Meghalaya police officials for the meritorious services in counter-insurgency operations in the state.

Additional Director General of Police Prem Singh, Inspector General of Police M S Syiem, Additional Superintendent of Police West Khasi Hills District S Nongtnger, Commandant of MLP 1st Battalion Ms Claudia A Lyngwa among others, who were awarded the president's police medal.

Speaking on the occasion, state's Home Minister Robert Garnet Lyngdoh lauded the achievement of police forces in battling criminal activities.

He said,''Policeman's job is not an easy task and hardly get public recognition for the dedicated task to maintain law and order.'' State's Director General of Police William Richmond Marbaniang also spoke on the occasion.
