Xponse CEO arrested for alleged link to drug cartel
Kolkata, Feb 13 (UNI) Xponse Technologies CEO and MD Sanjay Kedia was arrested last night for his alleged link to a drug cartel.
A Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) source said today that Kedia, an IIT-Delhi alumnus, was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and remanded to judicial custody by a Barasat court for two weeks.
NCB sleuths seized Rs 24 lakhs, reportedly the proceeds of drug sales.
The arrest was the first in India for such a crime that came after the sleuths took action against a sydicate operating an online pharmacy that offered to sell psychotropic substances, NCB sources said.
''After procuring orders from customers across the world, they used to send drug consignments through post. The contents were labelled with misleading names. To export pschyotropic substances legally, one requires export authorisation from the Narcotics Commissioner,'' the sources added.
Sanjay did his Masters from North Carolina. He had established Xponse Technologies in 2002 and expanded the company in less than three years.
