Two killed, 39 injured in TN vehicle collision

Perambalur (Tamil Nadu) Feb 13: Two people were killed and 39 others injured, when the bus carrying them collided head-on with a lorry at Mangalamedu village on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai national highway early today.

Police said a group of students of the Government Arts College, Tiruvannamalai, were returning in the college bus after an excursion when the accident occurred. The dead included lorry driver E Rjanedran (28) and 21-year-old M Sakthi, a B Litt student.

The condition of four, among the 10 admitted to the Government Headquarters Hospital, Tiruchirapalli, was stated to be critical, while the remaning 29 injured were being treated at the government and private hospitals here.

Vehicular traffic on the busy highway was affected for a couple of hours in wake of the accident, the police said.
