Tripura govt: NREGP to be extended to entire state
Agartala, Feb 13: The Tripura government has demanded extension of National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) to the entire state in the coming fiscal to alleviate poverty.
State Panchayat Minister Manik Dey submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyer here yesterday.
In the memorandum, Mr Dey said at present only Dhalai district has been brought under the NREGP but this should be extended to the whole state.
He urged the Centre to provide funds to implement e-governance in all the village committees.
The government has been demanding training institutes at the district levels for which Rs 1200 lakh was required, he added.
Mr Dey said a superintendent engineer was required to monitor the technical aspects of the implementation of NREGP.
