Three more companies of CISF for DISCOMs to curb power theft
New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) The Union Home Ministry has approved deployment of three companies of the Central Industrial Security Force to facilitate DISCOMs in curbing power theft in the Capital, which the para-military force claims was difficult to implement due to manpower shortage.
However, the CISF contends the proposal could be carried out ''in phases'' as its earlier facilitation had proved very successful in bringing down power theft cases drastically.
Presently one company of the CISF was deployed with BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) for the last six months.
The proposal has been received but right now it was difficult to implement it as the force was facing an acute shortage of manpower, said a senior CISF official.
''We have managed to cover just 54 of the 68 airports due to this shortage, hence it would be, at the most, implemented in phases,'' he added.
The deployment, which the DISCOM says would be done from April would bring down the Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses to below 15 per cent, said a DISCOM release.
