Thomson announces strategic investment in India

Bangalore, Feb 13 (UNI) Thomson, through its technicolor Content Service business, today announced the expansion of its animation capabilities with strategic investment in India.

Talking to newspersons here, Thomson Vice-President Thierry Pasquet said the company's entertainment services capabilities were expanded with a strategic investment in the city-based Paprikaas Animation Studios, a leading animation and game content provider.

Declining to disclose the quantum of cash involved in the deal, he said ''we have acquired 51 per cent share in Paprikaas and the money involved cannot be disclosed.'' Mr Pasquet said the transaction further strengthened Thomson's commitment globally and in India to expand its service offerings in the feature film, television animation and video game industries.

He said this investment provided the company a strategic platform from which to access the fast growing Indian media and entertainment market, thus enabling the company to accelerate roadmap in India.

Paprikaas Animation Studios Founder and CEO Nandish Domlur, who was also present, said ''this partnership would pave the way to provide a unique service offering to the global animation and gaming industry.'' UNI
