Sale tax officer in ACB net

Mumbai, Feb 13 (UNI) Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today nabbed a sales tax officer while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a hotelier.

According to ACB sources, Prashant Satav had visited the complainant's hotel at Ghatkopar on February 2 to examine the documents pertaining to sales.

After examining the documents, he told the hotelier that the latter had paid less sales tax and should pay up the pending amount.

The hotelier was asked to visit the sales tax office to settle the matter.

However, when the hotelier visited the sales tax office, Satav allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000. The hotelier lodged a complaint with the ACB following which a trap was laid and the sales tax officer was allegedly nabbed red handed while accepting the amount.
