Chennai, Feb 13 (UNI) Madras High Court today adjourned by ten days the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a direction to the Centre to protect the life and properties of Tamils in Karnataka by deploying paramilitary forces in the wake of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's final award on February 5.

When the PIL filed by K V Elan Keeran of Cuddalore District, came up for hearing before a division bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice K Chandru, Assistant solicitor general of India P Wilson submitted that sufficient forces were provided by the Centre to Karnataka and hence the government sponsored bandh in Karnataka yesterday, which went off peacefully.

As and when the state government requests, the Centre would consider providing sufficient forces, he added.

Noting that the Centre was taking care of the situation, the bench adjourned by ten days further hearing of the case.
