Nominated members; priority to women: AIADMK
Puducherry, Feb 13: The womens' wing of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has urged the administration to accord priority to women while appointing nominated members to the Territorial Assembly.
In a resolution adopted at a consultation meeting of the party unit here last night, it said if women without any political background were not appointed as nominated members, the party would organise agitations, Womens' wing secretary M Vijayalakshmi said in a release here today.
While condemning the administration for failing to provide enhanced old age pension to the beneficieries, the meeting demanded that the pension be provided with arrears.
Another resolution urged the administration to provide two sets of uniforms to women Self-help groups members and setting up of 100 Anganwadis as announced in the last budget were adopted at the meeting, she added.
