Naidu confident of victory in Punjab

Mumbai, Feb 13 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today expressed confidence that the Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP combine would emerge victorious in the Punjab assembly elections.

''We hope to also capture power in the states of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Goa,'' Naidu told reporters here.

Mr Naidu said the congress-led UPA government at the centre has not been able to control the price rise and the situation is ''alarming'' on this front.

His party would take up the issue along with internal security and terrorism during the budget session of Parliament, he said.

He said a meeting of national office bearers of the BJP has been convened for February 24, where a decision to hold nationwide agitation on the rise in prices will be taken.
