Mizoram government for better public service

Aizawl, Feb 13 (UNI) In order to set up a good governence and offer better public service, Mizoram government asked it's employees not to leave office for attending funerals, weddings, picnics or other group activities.

State's Chief Secretary Haukhum Hauzel announced the decision after holding meeting with the Federation of Mizoram Government Employees&Workers (FMGE&W) yesterday here.

Mr Hauzel said that activities in NGOs or churches should not interfere with office hours and the practice of leaving office to attend meetings of such organisations be stopped forthwith.

''The five working days in a week is because two days would be reserved for government employees to discharge their social responsibilities but if we still continue to use office hours, it hampers public'', Hauzel underlined.

On the matter of punctuality and regular attendance, he said the government should not be forced to issue orders to this effect because government employees are bound by certain rules.

The government has also asked all heads of departments to conduct meetings with their staff for better discipline during office hours, he said adding that showing politeness to visitors, talking less on mobile phones, playing cards and computer games during office hours are prohabited henceforth.
