Major fire in Cochin Shipyard; no casualties

Kochi, Feb 13 (UNI) A major fire broke out in the Cochin Shipyard here this afternoon.

An official spokesperson said the fire broke at the acetylene station of the yard after an explosion at 1430 hrs and was extinguished in 40 minutes.

He said 11 fire engines were pressed into service to douse the flames, in which the roof of the station was damaged.

There were no casualties.

The cause of the fire was still unknown, he added.

Ruling out sabotage, he said an investigation would be launched shortly.
