LF's "aggressive attitude" to cause food crisis in Bengal: Cong
Kolkata, Feb 13 (UNI) The State Congress today claimed that the the CPI(M)-led Left Front government's "aggressive attitude" towards land policy may herald food crisis in near future.
''We need both farmland and industry. Industry should be set up in such a way so that a balance is maintained. Forcefully acquiring farmland for industries would hamper food production and result in its scarcity in the state in the near future,'' former PCC President Somen Mitra said in the party's two-day 'land conference' at the Netaji Subhas Institute here.
Citing an example, he alleged that no industrial infrastructure has yet been developed in West Besgal and the state's position is as low as 17 in the industrial sector throughout the country.
PCC working president Pradip Bhattacharjee, Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader in West Bengal Assembly Manas Bhuiya, Dawa Narbula, Sudip Bandopadhyay and all the district presidents attended the conference.
