J'khand Food and Drug laboratory to be functional soon: Shahi
Ranchi, Feb 13 (UNI) Jharkhand Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Shahi today announced that the state's Food and Drug laboratory would soon start functioning.
The laboratory, built on the direction of Union government, was funded by the World Bank for examination of food and drug samples.
However, it remained non-functional after its inauguration.
According to health department sources, the government was yet to sanction the required posts for technical staff.
Mr Shahi who came on a surprise visit to the laboratory, located in the Namkom area, said a special meeting would be held to regulate proper functioning of the laboratory.
Earlier, Mr Shahi also directed the department officials to take action against the medical staff, including doctors of the Reproductive Child Health (RCH) centre, who were absent during the minister's visit.
Mr Shahi, yesterday also had ordered stern action against the 60 absent staff of the health department.
