HLL to up Lakme Beauty Salons count to 100 by fiscal end

Lucknow, Feb 13 (UNI) Cosmetic major Lakme plans to up the number of its Lakme Beauty Salons to 100 in the country by the end of this fiscal.

At present, the company has 92 Lakme Beauty Salons at 37 locations spread across India. It has seven salons in UP including at Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad and Varanasi.

A Hindustan Level Limited (HLL) group company, Lakme Lever was earlier owned by the Tatas.

''The beauty business had it never so good, since people are more conscious about their look and personality. They are not averse to seeking professional help to groom them,'' Hindustan Lever Business Manager Reena Chhabra told UNI here today.

However, she informed the company had no immediate plans to foray in the men beauty segment.

''Brand Lakme is meant only for women and I do not see it offering men beauty products in the next at least 2 years,'' she added.

The Axe cosmetic brand of HLL caters to men exclusively, Ms Chhabra added.

The Lakme official was accompanied in the town by Lakme Creative Stylist Shailesh, who introduced several beauty and hair products of Lakme stable to the newspersons.

Lakme Beauty Salons were established in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai 30 years ago.
