Hariprasad arrives to discuss with CM on members issue

Puducherry, Feb 13(UNI) All India Congress Committee(AICC) General Secretary in charge of Puducherry B K Hariprasad arrived here this evening.

Mr Hariprasad, who will hold discussions with Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC) President P Shanmugham, will also call on Lt Governor Mukut Mithi and hand over him the list of those, who were to be appointed as nominated members to the territorial assembly.

The Congress before the assemby election had entered into an agreement with its allies Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) and Communist Party of India(CPI) that a nominated member each, besides the Chairman post of Government Corporation and Boards would be given to them. However, due to varius reasons the promise could not be fulfilled so far and the parties had agitated over this.

Following this, Mr Rangasamy had discussed the matter with the AICC and forwarded the names of the PMK and CPI candidates to the party High Command. It is expected that Mr Kalainathan of the CPI and Panneerselvam of the PMK, besides one from the Congress would get appointed.

Meanwhile, AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan had objected to the political appointments ot the post of nominated members and demanded that women, too, without any political connection be appointed to the post.

Mr Anbhazhagan had also written a letter to the President in this regard.
