GPCC for raising superannuation age of govt employees to 60

Panaji, Feb 13 (UNI) The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has urged the state government to raise the superannuation age of all government employees to 60, as against the present 58, on par with teachers.

A GPCC delegation met Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane today and made the request, GPCC president Ravi Naik informed.

Mr Naik, however, could not specify as to how many employees would be benefitted if the step is implemented, nor could he specify the burden on the state exchequer as a result. ''It is for the government to consider and assess,'' he told media persons here.

Meanwhile, Mr Naik informed that the GPCC has constituted a 10-member committee, headed by noted writer Uday Bhembre and Adv Ramakant Khalap as the convenor, for drafting the party manifesto for the coming elections.

''The manifesto will be prepared after consultations with various sections of the society through seminars, discussions and interactions,'' Mr Naik said.

The committee will deliberate upon issues concerning the industry, agriculture, labour, environment, health, education, sanitation, transport, women, youth, sports, and law and order, before drafting the document, he added.

To a question, he said it was too early to decide on the quota of seats for women in the coming elections.
