Gladrags complete hunt for models in South India
Bangalore, Feb 13 (UNI) Youth aspiring to make modelling a full time vocation should think twice as modelling will not provide all of them their bread and butter, Gladrags Beauty Pageants President Maureen Wadia said today.
Speaking to mediapersons here to showcase the South Zone's finest beauty and talent, who would go to Mumbai in April to take part in the national finale of the 'Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt Contest-2007', she said it was important for aspiring models to find a proper job first and then practice modelling in the week-ends as the reality was that there was not much money in modelling in India.
''Your shelf life will be over by the time you reach an age of 25. So it will be important that you stick to a proper job. If you don't want to work but just walk the ramp, you are in for trouble,'' she said.
About 20 attractive girls and boys with well toned bodies paraded at a well known hotel here today in a bid to become the next John Abrahams, Dino Moreas, Koena Mitras or Lara Duttas.
Ms Wadia said South India had produced the best talent in modelling, but Punjab had emerged as the best destiny to spot modelling talent. ''Every second boy or girl there wants to become a mega model. Punjab is very aggressive in beauty pageant. I had been to Bengal to select the best in the East and my next destination will be Punjab,'' the model guru, known for her 'Midas touch' in shaping models through her 'models survival course', said.
