France offers assitance to Haryana in water management

Chandigarh, Feb 13 (UNI) France has offered its assistance to Haryana in the area of water management, especially in new cities coming up in the state, and also in the field of hotel management.

The offer was made to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda by a representative of the French Government, Ms Dyna, who called on Mr Hooda here today to present to him the reports of the projects on upgradation of water supply and sewerage systems in the towns of Kaithal and Rohtak.

These studies have been conducted by a French company at the behest of Public Works (Water Supply and Sanitation) Department Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Ms Dyna said the French government was willing to cooperate India in many areas of development.

The Chief Minister apprised her about the problem of salinity in the state affecting the supply of potable water and said that a study on desalination could prove useful for the state.

While referring to the issue of water management in new cities, Mr Hooda also apprised her about the proposed three cities being set up between Jahangirpur and Badli, near Sampla and also between Samalkha and Ganaur and the Rajiv Gandhi Education City that would also come up in Haryana.

She said she was aware of the proposed Education City in Haryana and offered French assistance in setting up of Hotel Management Institutes with French cooperation.
