Dispose off pending and translate justice into reality: J

Srinagar, Feb 13 (UNI) Calling upon the subordinate courts to promptly dispose off pending cases to translate justice into reality, Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Bashir Ahmad Khan has said the judiciary should perform its duty sincerely and effectively.

Stressing for maintaining the dignity and authority of the judiciary, he said it serves as one of the main pillars of a democratic set up.

Addressing a reception hosted in his honour on being confirmed as Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court here, Justice Khan said the timely dispensation of justice to the poor and needy would help in restoring faith and confidence of the people in the judiciary.

The Chief Justice said Lok Adalats were the need of the hour and had helped in providing free legal aid to the deserving persons.
